Executive Construction Equipment

Earthmoving Equipment rental firm seeks Executive. Oversee large-scale NAD 200+ Million Equipment Maintenance and CAPEX projects. Seeking an Entrepreneurial person who is strong with finances. Must be the type of person who likes to run an organisation in a professional way using best practices.

What the person must be able to do:

This role is in the Civil Engineering construction equipment sector. As such, the person must be able to execute all job tasks in a construction equipment sector. Some of the equipment includes graders, soil compactors, crawler tractors (dozers), excavators, frond-end loaders, surfacing machines,  concrete mixers, construction trucks etc. This is an executive  management role with P&L responsibility. The person must be able to make large-scale equipment CAPEX and maintenance decisions with values exceeding NAD 200 Million. The person must highly entrepreneurial and also be able to develop and optimise the organisational structure for a highly geographically distributed workforce. The person must be able to understand financials and be sufficiently mature and seasoned to make financial decisions. Some financial decisions are in the range of hundreds of millions of NAD. The person must have sufficient fiduciary acumen and responsibility to make such large decisions.

  • Executive leadership to ensure that Value is added to the overall company business strategic plan
  • Executive oversight of the construction equipment group
  • Implement an international best practices CAPEX and procurement practice
  • Development and implement CAPEX management systems to ensure prudent financial controls
  • Compile and manage large-scale financial budgets
  • Implement strong procurement and spending controls
  • Implement an industry best practice equipment maintenance practice
  • Ensure uptime SLA’s are established and adhered to. Ensure SLA reporting in place
  • Ensure logistics structures are in place and operating efficiently. Logistics structures must enable cost efficient and speedy parts distribution across a vast geographic network
  • Ensure JIT or similar practices are instituted to optimise parts stock holdings
  • Implement IT and BI systems to optimise parts stock holdings
  • Establish a list of preferred vendors and suppliers
  • Establish preferential pricing frameworks with preferred vendors and suppliers
  • Ensure the group is independently profitable
  • Ensure SHE requirements meet and exceed best practices
  • Oversee large value contract negotiations
  • Drive marketing initiatives to expand revenues
  • Implement and optimise IT systems for business process automation

Key Job Deliverables:

  • Stand-alone profitability of group
  • International best practice level CAPEX and procurement management
  • International best practice fleet management and fleet maintenance management
  • Effective and prudent financial controls
  • Effective and prudent financial and capital management
  • Effective and efficient IT systems which automate manual administration
  • SHE compliance
  • Effective and Efficient Supply Chain Systems to support fleet maintenance and fleet management best practices inclusive of Quality of preferred vendor and supplier list
  • Strong Performance Management advocator and implementer

Background work experience

  • 10+ years experience in fleet management, with preference for construction machinery
  • 5+ years experience in fleet maintenance
  • Strong preference for logistics qualification or certification
  • At least 3 years experience in a strategic role similar to this role
  • BSc or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Logistics
  • ECSA registration or equivalent advantageous
  • Strong preference for MBA or equivalent
  • Strong preference for formal Strategic Management qualification (Can be part of MBA)
