Sales Engineer Telco – DT 108

Tech firm seeks driven Sales Engineer in Telco space. Sell Network Testing equipment to major Telcos such as Vodacom, MTN and Telkom.

What the person must be able to do:

This role is in the South African Telco industry. The company supplies Network Testing equipment to major Telcos. You need to have a background in electrical engineering, so that you can understand what the equipment does, and the customer problems it solves. Strong preference for existing relationships within the Telco’s Network Divisions.

  • Identify organisational structure and key decision makers in the Account
  • Develop consultative relationships with key decision makers (Know you, like you, trust you)
  • Understand the customer’s strategy and align sales opportunities to the strategy
  • Strategic and thought leadership presentations on a Senior Level
  • Create and identify new opportunities in the Account
  • Qualify sales opportunities (Determine if the customer is going to buy)
  • Progress sales opportunities to close
  • Presentation of Sales Solution
  • Proposal writing and pricing
  • Assist customer with budgeting and business cases
  • Address customer objections to solutions
  • Pricing and contract negotiation
  • Manage account politics
  • Deal with customer service issues
  • Achieve and over-achieve sales targets
  • Report on sales opportunities
  • Sales forecasting
  • Travel into Africa such as Nigeria

Key Job Deliverables:

  • Account revenue growth as per company objectives
  • Attainment of sales targets
  • Accurate sales forecasting and reporting
  • Create and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction

Background work experience

  • 3+ years of experience in selling test solutions to telecom operators and other telecom related companies, such as fibre installers
  • Comfortable in discussing and selling measurement solutions in the telecom environment from POTS to 100GigE
  • Good understanding of technical terms and acronyms used in telecomm and T&M markets
  • Strongly advantageous if the candidate has actually worked for a Telco
  • Existing relationships in Network divisions of the Major Telcos. Must include relationships with divisional heads
  • Electronics Engineering Diploma/Degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Advantageous: Completed Selling and Negotiating Skills Training

Salary: R30K to R40K per month basic + commission. R60K On Target.
